Part One – The Chakras (energy centers) and how they relate to intuition and spiritual guidance. Learn About the Chakra Colors (see Chakra chart illustration) and their significance with each of the energy centers.
Kirk: Alana, could you explain a bit more about the importance of the Heart Chakra when it comes to channeling or gathering spiritual guidance?
Alana: Ideally, when we set out to gather intuitive information, connect with spirit, or draw from our inner resources, we want to begin by grounding and centering within our body.

Next, we want to intend and affirm our connection with our heart while aligning with our Heart Chakra. This chakra is much like a highway that reaches into the invisible realms. It supports safety and invites assurance. It creates an intention that a person will draw to them information that is aligned with the highest and best good, and not be dissipated by judgment or command. This intention also supports the alignment of the whole body Chakra System, which invites the participation of the body’s full energy spectrum. The Heart Chakra becomes the doorway for receiving.
Red Root Chakra Root Chakra
Kirk: Thank you. Now I’d like to describe each chakra, its connection to our body, and its benefits. We can also share the types of intuitive information one may connect with when the Heart Chakra is aligned with one of the other six chakras. Let’s also focus on the kinds of information we can draw to us when a specific chakra directs the process.
Alana, I understand that the first chakra, the Root Chakra–which is located at the base of the spine–forms our foundation. It connects us to our bodies and the physical world. We associate it with the earth and physical identity, and it is oriented to self-preservation. Can you tell us a little about what we can intuitively expect to attract from the Root Chakra’s energy?
Alana: Yes. When we are in full-body alignment, and our Root Chakra is connected with our Heart Chakra, we can draw intuitive insights regarding our safety, security, and health. This information is translated in such a way that it is not fear-based. It will guide us to awareness, and in turn, we will be presented with a choice from our own subconscious. We can even learn more about our shadow side, and be guided in how to embrace the higher intention of that part of our nature.
We may also connect with earthy spirit vibrations, like wood nymphs and sprites. A good medical intuitive will gather much useful information from the Root Chakra.
When we cut the Root Chakra off from the heart, and it becomes our primary reception channel, we will attract some very “interesting” (unuseful) non-visible parallel sources. For instance, a medical intuitive would not obtain correct information without being aligned primarily with the other chakras. The vibrations and entities we may connect with by focusing predominantly on the Root Chakra, are often very fear-based. Let’s just say this is not the most ideal place from which to reach into the spiritual realms without assistance from the Heart Chakra.
Orange Sacral Chakra Sacral Chakra
Kirk: Great, Alana. Let’s move to the second chakra. The Sacral Chakra is located in the abdomen, lower back, and sexual organs. It is related to the water element and it stimulates our emotions. By accessing we might connect to our sensuality, sexuality, desire, creativity, flexibility, and indulgent urges. What would you like to share regarding the Sacral Chakra?
Alana: The Sacral Chakra is very rich and full. When we are in full alignment with the Heart Chakra as the doorway, this is where we connect to the Goddess vibration. We may also connect with creative insights, and channel our feelings and senses. Incredible pieces of art have been produced by fully connecting with the Sacral Chakra.
This chakra is also where we connect with the Astral Plane. Without Heart Chakra alignment, we can draw to us all sorts of disassociated thought forms and energies that might like to capture and control our passions.
Kirk: Is this the only chakra that connects to the Astral Plane?
Alana: We can also reach into the Astral Plane from other chakras such as the Root Chakra. The connection to the more negative types of energies associated with both the Root and Sacral Chakras ends when our chakras are in alignment the Heart Chakra.
Yellow Solar Plexus Chakra Solar Plexus Chakra
Kirk: The third chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra, is related to fire, and is located at the solar plexus. It relates to the ego and our personal identity. It is often referred to as one’s “power chakra.” When healthy, this chakra brings us energy, effectiveness, spontaneity, and non-dominating (cooperative) power.
Alana: Yes, and this is the chakra where many individuals deepen their intuitive connection with spirit. However, until they move beyond dualistic thinking, the resources they draw to them will be more apt to be attached to the self rather than the greater good of the whole. You see, it is the attachments to the self and one’s own agenda that diminish the benefits that are possible when embracing this chakra’s potential resources.
When the Solar Plexus Chakra is aligned with the full-body energy spectrum, it is an incredible resource. We can connect with vibrations, energies, and entities that wish to empower and support self-love and self-development.
Kirk: A lot of people seem to get stuck here, and have a hard time realizing the full potential of what is available to them. Why is that?
Alana: Well, people often give more power to the mind and enjoy their mental sense of self. They want to gain recognition and remain limited in their perceptions of what it takes to be worthy of love. This is the kind of thinking that leads to difficulties associated with “mental spirituality.”
Kirk: That makes sense. Our attachments and judgments, whether directed toward ourselves or others, keep us from connecting to higher vibrations and resources.
Alana: Yes, and that is one of the reasons why self-love is so very important. It is what facilitates the alignment of all our chakras and is what supports us in attaining the information we can gather through the power of our intuition.
Kirk: I think it’s wonderful that practicing self-love supports us in opening our intuition to higher vibrations. By connecting our Solar Plexus and Heart Chakras we can assess vast realms of co-creative mutual empowerment.
