Question: I have been working as a journalist for twenty years and have finally realized I have been living someone else’s dream. I live in a city I don’t like and I work for a newspaper where I’m treated like an old burn out. I want to move back home to be with my family and friends, but the opportunities there for someone with my background are very limited. I’m also wrestling with a tremendous debt that limits my options. I’m desperate and don’t know what to do. What advice can you offer?

Answer: Hello, dear one! Alana is happy that you brought this question forth. Alana feels that it is most important for you, at this time in your life, to create a mission statement. In other words, time is a tool that can help you to create a clear self-definition. Make a grand use of your time and begin creating your statement today. Find a format for doing this. It could be a workshop, a book, or something that will entice you to get very clear about what would bring you joy. You see, the longer that you put off turning towards that which would bring you joy, the harder it becomes to take the first step. So, find yourself some tools and encouragement that will help you fuel your ideas.

You know, there is nothing in this world that is more important than creating a sense of joy within one’s self. When we begin to surrender to joy, many doors begin to open. The more that we surrender to joy, the more doors that open. The longer that you hold yourself in this pattern that is non-fulfilling, the more messages you send to the universe that say you like being unfulfilled. Do You see?

Begin today. Begin to get in touch with your grand mission. Turn towards this mission and then don’t look back. If you catch yourself looking back, it will only be to discern with more clarity what you want. Your debt can wait. Your debt can wait for you to be filled with more joy. By doing what I suggest, you will begin attracting ways to create abundance, and your debt will then begin to dissipate. Alana is giving you your first step. If you take this step and honor what brings you happiness, much can be brought to you.

When you speak of the city to which you would like to move, first recognize that you don’t have to figure everything out. If you honor your joy and continue to move in the direction that you want, the world and universal love will support you for it is very creative. It is so creative that what may show up is the perfect job for you, doing something in a new way that you would love.

But, YOU must show up before it can show up.

We are also creative. We are creators and the universe is creative. If you have to know that the situation exists for you before you go, what you are saying is that universal love is not creative enough to follow your lead. So, trust, dear one. Begin to honor and turn towards that which will make you happy. That is the only way that happiness will find you.
